Digital Teachers Academy (DTA) has announced that it is launching her maiden Professional Advancement Training for Educators in a bid to help drive and improve teachers’ digital competency skills in facilitating virtual/remote teaching-learning process in Nigeria.

Digital Teachers Academy says the launch of the academy forms part of its mandate to equip teachers’ technological development to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.

“We believe the Professional Advancement Training will provide a platform for pre-service teachers, in-service teachers, private and public school administrators, educational policy makers, government and educational professionals to vitalize their interest in the use of digital facilities in carrying out learning activities.” Adeniyi Olawumi, Executive Director at DTA said.

The Free 2-Day Professional Advancement Programme will hold on Thursday 18th and 19th June 2020 online and it will address four key concepts (Becoming a 21st Century Digital Educator, Skills and Methodologies required of a Digital Teacher, E-Assessment of Students’ Academic Performance, and Holistic E-classroom Management and Teaching Ethics) and ensure participants are adequately equipped to deliver and transmit knowledge through virtual mode.

Key Professional digital educators and administrators have been invited to deliver best practices at the Professional Advancement Training which will explore the core concepts the training will be addressing.

Bakare Hafiz, Programme Manager at DTA, an academic institute with the visibility of training 1,000 educators (pre-service teachers, in-service teachers, private and public school administrators, educational policy makers, government and educational professionals) through the programme, said DTA will provide digital experiences and practices of remote learning. He says that improving the digital skills of teachers during this period is of priority for the nation.
Digital Teachers Academy intends to improve the job performance of teachers in Nigeria to meet up with the global standards in this field he added.
